FOUR Salisbury FC players have been chosen to play in the FA Representative XI squad for the Western League’s 125 anniversary.

Charlie Searle, Jake Wannell, Elliot Wheeler, and Tom Whelan will be flying the flag for Salisbury.

Whites assistant manager Mick Jenkins is also involved and will assist England C manager Paul Fairclough, who will be managing the side.

The Salisbury players will be playing the FA Representative XI squad, who will be playing against a Western League Representative XI squad.

Jenkins spoke about his call up to the squad and told the club website: “I’m delighted to be invited into the England C environment. Obviously I’m looking forward to the fixture and working with Paul Fairclough, who is a well-respected manager and coach.”

“I think it’s a nice reward for the players and for myself, it’s a great opportunity for those from this club and the others involved to showcase their talents on the night.”

A spokesman for the club also added: “Jenkins has been working very hard on this behind the scenes for the last few weeks, this is really great experience for him also.

“We look forward to seeing the lads representing Salisbury FC in this prestigious fixture, hopefully quite a few will make the short trip to show their support.”

The game will take place on Wednesday, October 11 (7.45pm) and will be held at Melksham Town FC.

Tickets for the game are priced at adults £3, concessions £1 and children are free.
