TWO men are in custody after reports of a burglary in St Martin's Church Street, Salisbury.

At about 4.40am this morning (Thursday, October 12) police received a call from a resident who had been woken by a noise believed to be glass smashing.

When he went downstairs to investigate, he found the patio doors to his home were wide open and a man was seen running away from the address.

Officers stopped a man matching the description in Gigant Street.

A second man was arrested nearby and addresses associated with the pair were searched and numerous items of suspected stolen property were located and seized.

A police spokesman said it is not believed these items are linked to the initial report of burglary.

Both men, aged 23, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody in Melksham.

Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with further information should call police on 101.
