STUDENTS will benefit from a new link between Wiltshire College and a celebrity performing arts academy.

The college has linked with the Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts, in Swindon, training young performers in dance, acting and signing, and will provide a BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts for students.

The academy’s celebrity patrons include Ant and Dec, Robbie Williams and Arlene Phillips, and has Jonny Wilkes as one of three principals.

Amanda Burnside, Wiltshire College principal, said: “This is an important development for the college and will enable us to introduce new courses, adding to our existing performing arts, music and film offer; particularly at higher level.

“This partnership will provide more opportunities for young people in the region to gain performing arts qualifications and to progress on to fantastic careers in the arts.”

Students at the Wilkes Academy come from all over Europe, and beyond, and more than 80 per cent of graduates are now actively working in the industry.

Each student has the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with current directors, choreographers, musical directors, casting directors, producers, singers and actors.
