A MAN who died after a car crashed into him as he lay in the road has been named.

Jonathan Langford died after the collision on the A338 at Charlton-All-Saints, near Salisbury, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 22-year-old was lying in the road at about 4.20am after deciding to walk home from a night out in the city centre.

Jonathan left the Chapel Nightclub with his twin brother just before 3am.

The pair had been on a night out to celebrate ahead of their upcoming birthdays today (November 1).

Jonathan walked along Catherine Street, Exeter Street, Newbridge Road and then the A338 Downton Road.

The collision happened at the Nunton junction.

Police say the driver of the vehicle stopped immediately at the scene and has been helping with ongoing enquiries.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen anyone walking between Salisbury city centre and the scene of the collision in the early hours of Saturday morning.

They have released a photo of Jonathan taken in the Chapel Nightclub the night before he died, showing the t-shirt he was wearing.

Detective Inspector Nicki Davey said: “We’d like to speak to witnesses who saw Jonathan or anyone else walking along this route from the Chapel Nightclub to the Nunton junction between 2.45am and the time of the collision which was around 4.20am.

“We’d particularly like to speak to a pedestrian who walked past the BP garage, heading towards Britford, on the Downton Road around 3.45am. “Also, we’d like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage to help with our enquiries.”
