A MAN grabbed a woman by the face in the centre of Salisbury on Monday.

Police say the incident happened at about 3.30pm near Patisserie Valerie in Fish Row, Salisbury.

The victim told a passer-by that she had been grabbed in the face by a man whom she did not know.

During this conversation, the suspect was then seen to run up to another woman and grab her by the shoulder.

The passer-by, who later reported the incident to police, ran after the suspect but could not catch him.

He was seen to run towards Winchester Street.

The suspect is described as approximately 5 ft 10 inches tall, of large build, with collar length, light-brown hair and wearing a cream-coloured, padded jacket. He is believed to be aged between 30 and 40.

PC Martyn Powell said: "I am looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, anyone who was approached by the man, or anyone who may know who he is."

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
