COMMUNITIES across south Wiltshire fell silent to observe the two minutes silence to commemorate Armistice Day. 

The Royal British Legion led an Act of Remembrance at the war memorial in front of Salisbury Guildhall Square. 

On Sunday, the annual Remembrance service will start at the war memorial in Salisbury Guildhall Square from 10.45am.

The Remembrance Sunday parade will start at Castle Street and will have representatives from the serving local regiments, veterans and cadets.

Everyone will gather at the war memorial for a two minute silence at 11am followed by prayers. The parade will then process to St Thomas’s Church for the Sunday Service.

  • The Remembrance Day parade and service in Fordingbridge, which is hosted by Avon Valley Partnership and Fordingbridge Town Council, takes place on Sunday. The laying of wreaths at Fordingbridge Recreation ground will be followed by a parade through the town to St Mary’s Church for a service of remembrance. The following roads will be closed to traffic, starting at 9.50am on Ringwood Road, progressing along Bridge Street, High Street, Provost Street, Church Street and ending at St Mary’s Church at 11am.
  • In Ringwood, a Remembrance Sunday service will take place at the Parish Church at 10.50am, which will be followed by a parade to the war memorial for the wreath laying.
