DARCY, the Labrador at the centre of a citywide search, has been found dead by the railway line at West Grimstead.
The four-year-old gundog escaped from a garden in Highbury Avenue, Salisbury, where she was being looked after, more than two weeks ago.
A Facebook page, Find Darcy the Missing Labrador, was set up to co-ordinate sightings, and owners Charles and Tracey Lister, from Winchester, combed the area with volunteer rescuers, but a railway worker found the body.
Mr Lister posted a thank-you to all those who had helped, saying: "Sadly, this was not to be the happy ending we had all worked for."
