A SERIAL offender stole booze from a service station in a late night break-in before biting a police officer and then throwing a bowl of sick all over another.

Jordan Burnell was also convicted of trying to bite a member of Hampshire Constabulary and digging his nails in another as they tried to restrain him following the theft.

Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard that Burnell, who was previously convicted of 13 offences, had found a fire extinguisher in the forecourt of Ringwood Service Station.

The 22-year-old then and used it to smash his way inside one of the stands at around 2.30am on October 27.

Once inside, he stole two crates of beer and two big bottles of Stella Artois.

Prosecutor Giles Fletcher told the court that Burnell’s actions had cost the service station between £3,000 and £4,000 in lost revenue and up to £1,000 in repairs.

He said staff inside the building at the time were left “upset” by the incident and contacted the authorities.

Mr Fletcher added: “Officers found someone of his description walking back to West Street in Ringwood and they identified him as the man who stole from the service station.

“The defendant dug his nails into the arm of an officer who felt a sharp pain and tried biting at the trousers of another officer.

“Back at Southampton Central Police station, pictured, he then threw a bowl of sick at an officer.

“He then put tissue paper into the sick and continued to throw that at the officer.

The court heard that Burnell, was already serving a community order for possession of drugs and that this had been breached.

Burnell, of Southcote Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to one charge of theft and three counts of assaulting a constable on duty.

He will be sentenced next Wednesday.
