Spectacular skeletons and their delightful dog floated down Salisbury High Street last night as the city came out for the Christmas lantern parade.

The procession wound its way from the Cathedral Close to the Market Place, where thousands were treated to a special pyrotechnic performance by FlameOz.

Around 700 lanterns made by young and old were marvelled upon as crowds lined the streets to watch the illuminated displayed.

Pupils from schools in Salisbury and the surrounding areas took part by making an array of festive-themed lanterns such as Father Christmas, stars and even a penguin.

The event, now in its sixth year, was organised in association with the Salisbury Arts Centre.
