THE Salvation Army is hosting a lunch to make sure that no one has to spend Christmas alone - but needs a helping hand.

On Christmas Day, Salisbury Salvation Army are providing a dinner and entertainment at their hall in Salt Lane for those who will not be able to spend the day with their loved ones.

Lieutenants Martin and Vicky Crawford said: “We would not want anyone to be on their own throughout this very special day, when most people are with family or friends.”

There will be room for up to 65 people, recommended by relevant agencies or concerned neighbours, to sit down and enjoy a festive meal.

Plans for the dinner are well advanced but to help the day run smoothly the organisation is asking for volunteers to offer transport for elderly or disabled guests to the dinner at around 1pm and collecting them at 3.30pm.

Anyone who is available to offer transport to those attending the dinner is asked to phone 01722 417643 or drop in to the hall on weekday mornings.
