HOSPITAL staff have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication in improving patient services at an awards ceremony.

Salisbury District Hospital Trust’s Service Improvement Awards on November 24 highlighted the outstanding working taking place across the hospital.

There were three award categories focusing on projects or areas for improvement that were identified by members of staff, Trust projects taken forward by staff and service improvement projects where staff been involved in supported learning.

Speech and language therapist Nadine Crook took home the award for Service Improvement Individual and Team Award. Nadine was recognised for her work on improving the communication for stroke patients.

Members of the Older Persons Assessment and Liaison Team, Hannah Munns and Gill Hibberd, received the Sponsored Project Award. The team were selected for their work to provide additional therapy for older people.

The Learning Initiated Projects Award was won by junior doctors Fiona Wu and Olivia Scott for their work in designing and implementing a post-falls assessment document.

The Spinal Outpatient Service Team were presented with the Judges’ Award after the panel were impressed with the way the team worked together to improve patient services.

Trust chief executive Cara Charles-Barks said: “It was great to see the innovation, creativity and high standards that have been set in all the presentations we saw on the day, and it’s encouraging to know that this was just a small sample of the excellent projects and initiatives that are taking place in the hospital throughout the year.

“It’s always difficult to single out individuals and teams, but I would like to congratulate and thank the winners for their outstanding presentations. I mustn’t forget the eight other highly commended teams, all of whom have made a fantastic contribution that makes a difference to the way our patients are cared for.”
