A SUSPECTED drink driver had a lucky escape after being involved in a dramatic crash on the A31.
Firefighters say a car ploughed into a central reservation on the A31, near Picket Post Services, Burley, at around 1.10am today.
The vehicle suffered heavy damage in the crash.
But firefighters say the driver managed to get free without their help and only suffered "minor injuries".
Police arrested the man at the scene, on suspicion of drink driving.
However he was de-arrested, pending further investigation, so that medics could take him to Poole Hospital
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said one crew from nearby Burley Fire Station attended the incident.
They were originally called to reports of an overturned vehicle.
But the spokesperson said the crew did not have to perform a rescue.
Instead, firefighters carried out safety checks at the scene.
