RINGWOOD School students will be treading the boards in their own production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

More than 130 students, from the backstage crew, orchestra and cast, will captivate audiences through singing, acting and dance, re-telling the popular story.

There will be six performances running from February 6 to February 10.

Beauty and the Beast tells the journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle.

Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior and realise the kind heart of the true Prince within.

Ian Hawkins, producer and musical director, said: “We are very excited to be staging this amazing show. Students and staff are currently working extremely hard on all aspects of the production. Beauty and the Beast is a well-known story and is difficult to put on stage for many reasons.

“Our BTEC Production Arts students are rising to the challenge to make sure the technical aspect of the show match the high standard of performance”.
