IT IS “full steam ahead” for the summer festival in Fordingbridge this year.

The Fordingbridge Events Group, which has taken over responsibility for organising the summer festival and the town’s Christmas events, was set up last month.

The group’s chairman Nicky Jenkins said work was “progressing” and the event will take place on July 21 at the Recreation Ground. It will be centred around the theme of “transport through the ages”.

She said: “Everything’s been going full steam ahead.”

The group would also like to hear from volunteers and entertainers who would like to get involved as well as those interested in a having a stall.

Volunteers who would like to lend their support to the event are also being asked to get in touch with the events group.

Fordingbridge Summer Festival had previously been run by the Rotary Club of Fordingbridge for nine years who said they were no longer able to continue with the event.

Several members of the Rotary club have joined the events group’s committee and have been sharing their expertise.
