A TEENAGER with learning difficulties is appealing for anyone who may have photographed him with one of his idols in Salisbury last week to come forward.

Dean Perkins was in the city centre on Thursday, for the prime minister’s visit, when he bumped into Channel 4 news presenter Jon Snow.

Dean, who is 16 and a pupil at Exeter House, has previously written to Mr Snow and had letters and autographs in response, and was excited to have his picture taken with the journalist.

But he later discovered that the picture had not saved correctly and he had no memento of meeting one of his idols.

Dean contacted the Journal that evening to try and find anyone who may have snapped a picture of the pair together.

“There were a couple of ladies there and they took a picture of me and him together, but I don’t know who they were,” he said.

Dean’s mother Sheila said her son was “totally shocked” to find himself stood next to the newsreader last week.

“He was so disappointed when he got home, that this guy he never ever thought he would meet [was here] and he stood next to him and had his picture taken,” she said.

“It might never happen again.”

Dean told the Journal that he had been “excited” to meet Mr Snow, with whom he had chatted and joked before his picture was taken.

Dean said he had been wearing a grey coat, blue jeans and a mauve striped T-shirt and said: “I would be really happy if I could get a photo as this was a missed opportunity with someone who I really admire.”

Anyone who thinks they have a photo of Dean and Mr Snow can email rebecca.hudson@salisburyjournal.co.uk or call 01722 426548.
