CHARACTERS leapt off the pages at Fordingbridge Junior School.

The children had a great day dressing up as their favourite story characters on Wednesday, March 7 to celebrate World Book Day.

Costumes were inspired by comic book superheroes, pirates, Mr Stink, Mary Poppins and Harry Potter to name just a few.

They were also encouraged to talk about the characters they had dressed as.

During that week pupils were joined by storyteller Chris Connaughton.

Years 3 and 4 were entertained by mythical stories of Perseus and the Gorgon while years 5 and 6 were told tales of the Odyssey.

The school said the children had a “great day” dressing up.
