A BULFORD barber has been crowned the south-west regional winner in a national competition to find Britain’s best wet shaving barber.

Jack Jenkins, from Chaps & Dames Hair in Horne Road, beat off razor sharp competition from scores of other talented barbers at the regional final at Mike Taylor Education in Poole in Britain’s Best Shave 2018.

The 25-year-old said: “I’m delighted to have secured the South West crown. I got into barbering because I wanted to make a difference and bring out my artistic side. Before barbering I always had an eye for hair, I would shape up mates’ hair lines before going on a night out and watch barbers at my local shop cut hair.

“I wanted to start shaving as an added service in my local area, I was the only barber in a 15 miles radius who offered shaving and it took off massively. I want to use this experience and help to put Salisbury truly on the barbering map.”

Jack impressed the judges with his shave preparation, razor technique, post-shave routine, health and safety and overall efficiency.

Jack, will now go on to compete in the national final against seven other top barbers from across the country at this year’s Barber UK.

He said: “Qualifying for the national finals in Britain’s best shave is huge for me and my career, I’ve been barbering nearly six years and Shaving for 4 years. To compete against the top barbers in the nation is going to be a tough challenge and but it’s defiantly a challenge I accept.

“Anything I do in life I strive to be with the best if not the best, I put all my time and effort into my job but the results I get back are all worth the hard work. I enjoy what I do it’s a passion, job and a lifestyle all in one.

“I cannot thank my family and friends enough for everything they’ve helped me with in the build up to this competition. But for now I focus, practice and look ahead to the finals.”

The final will take place at the Birmingham NEC on May 20 and 21 and will attract hundreds of spectators.
