SALISBURY Live 2018 is set to be the “biggest and best yet” and starts this weekend.

It takes place over four weekends this month with two special events on Friday, June 1.

Colin Holton, who is co-ordinating the event, said: “With the iconic Salisbury International Arts Festival taking a break this year, Salisbury Live 2018 promises to be the biggest and best yet.”

The main Salisbury Live programme will see the city’s pubs, bars and clubs host a variety of live music offerings.

Colin said: “Once again the musical program is an eclectic mix of genres, styles, original and cover acts.”

Bands featuring in the Salisbury Live programme include Just Because, The Funk Bunnies, Break Cover, the Passenger Club and Barely Legal to name just a few.

This year’s Salisbury Live is being supported by the Salisbury Journal.

There will also be standalone events at Salisbury Arts Centre, Salisbury Rugby Club, Salisbury and South Wilts Sports Club, Live in the Square, Salisbury Live goes Rural at Alderbury Sports and Social Club and Live @ the Farm at River Bourne Community Farm.

Live@the Farm takes place on May 27 and is being headlined by Queen tribute act, Queen B.

Supporting acts include Party Animalz, Big Dog, HP & the Reggae Source, Luicé and Brittons on Patrol. To help cover the rising costs of staging this event, the farm has introduced a ticket price of £3 with under 18s going free. Tickets are available at seetickets.com

Salisbury Live in the Square returns on Friday, May 11, with acts including Skaville, Glasshouse, Odstocks, The Acrustic Badger Band, One Way, Nia Nicholls, Julian McCloud and music students from Wiltshire College. It takes place in the Market Square from 1pm-10pm.

On Friday, June 1, Salisbury Arts Centre hosts Salisbury Live Teenagers - showcasing the talents of the area’s young musicians, dancers and performers from 6.30pm-10pm. Tickets are free and are available at ticketsales@wiltshirecreative.co.uk

Bringing the event to a close is the second part of Salisbury Live in the Square with more acts for music lovers to listen to from 6pm-10.30pm.

Performers include Madness tribute act One Step Behind, The Intercepteurs, Break Cover and Common Confusion.
