DRIVERS are being warned of a slow moving and "abnormal load" that will be passing through the county tomorrow (Sunday, May 20).

The load is due to be escorted by Wiltshire Police from 7am, leaving Westbury (Brook Lane) along the following route:

The Ham Hawkeridge Road to Philips Way, Trowbridge A363 to Yarnbrook A350 South through Westbury to Warminster A36 Warminster by-pass to Deptford A303 Eastbound to Hampshire

It is expected to leave the county on the A303 into Hampshire at about 9.30am.

The load will measure five metres wide, is made up of a pre-fabricated metal structure and will be moved by CJ Clothier Transport of Westbury.

A police statement said: "Due to its width, it will take up around one and a half lanes of a standard road.

"As a result, it will be both slow moving and have the potential to create congestion in places where oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the load to pass.

"Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this load.

"Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time."

Police escorting resources are being provided by volunteer officers, paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
