RUNNERS laced up their trainers for the Salisbury Schools Mini Marathon on Saturday.

About 1,500 runners, including 238 adults as well as children representing 30 schools.

Karen Walker, who is the head teacher at St Andrew's School and part part of the Salisbury Schools Mini Marathon Committee, said: "It was a great day with lovely sunny weather.

"We are grateful to all of the local schools who sent helpers to marshal and pace the races, and to the sponsors of the event. All of their help make this such a well supported community event and one of the best in the calendar for Salisbury Schools."

First over the line for the under 9 boys' was Hayden Mundy (Harnham) followed by Ben Cowey (Greentrees) and William Ransome (St Andrew's).

In the girls under 9s, Sophie Hayakawa (Winterbourne Earls) came first with Sophie Wood (Stratford-sub-Castle) in second and Henrietta Morgan (Broad Chalke) in third.

In the adult category Andy Holme (St Mark's) was the first man to finish followed by Richard Davison (Old Sarum) and Michael McLean (Old Sarum).

Polly Jacobs (Harnham) was the first woman over the finish line with Liz Gray (St Mark's) in second and Emma McIntyre (St Mark's) in third.

In the under 11s girls' Sophie Makin (Woodford Valley) was first followed by Olivia Glover (Sarum St Paul’s) and Erica Pettit (Downton).

Kieran McCullam (Harnham) came first in the under 11 boys with Harry Jordan (Harnham) in second and Isaac Routledge (Winterbourne Earls) in third.
