A WINE and cheese evening raised £1,000 for the Stars Appeal’s MRI scanner campaign.

Jayne Prigent, owner of JasHair salon group, organised the event with more than 50 guests at Maul’s Wine and Cheese Bar in Butcher Row on last Wednesday.

The popular fundraising event sold out within 48 hours of tickets going on sale and raised £1,000 toward a second MRI machine for Salisbury District Hospital.

There was live entertainment from Graeme Budd Dinner Jazz Sax and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses including Maul’s, Cambridge Wine Merchants, Museum Wines and Cottonworth Wine.

Jayne is one of 56 fundraisers preparing to trek the Great Wall of China next year to raise funds for the Stars Appeal’s latest campaign.

Jayne said: “We’re keen supporters of the Stars Appeal at Jas and feel it’s really important to give something back to the local community – a big big thank you to everyone who joined us last night, to Andy at Maul’s for hosting and Graeme for entertaining everyone – we all had such a lovely evening.”
