A BRICKLAYING student cemented second place in a regional competition.
Shaynee Davis only started the Level 1 CITB apprenticeship in September at Wiltshire College but showed she has a natural talent after coming second in the Guild of Bricklayer’s junior category.
The 20-year-old from Salisbury went head-to-head against other competitors from colleges around the region in the five-hour timed competition, which saw them construct a wall and showcase their levelling, plumbing and projection skills.
Shaynee is based at the Trowbridge campus and works for Bloor Homes at its Amesbury site.
She said: “I was happy with my wall and didn’t expect to get placed.
“It was a nice feeling to think that the judges were impressed with what I had done especially as some of the other competitors had finished their walls.”
“This is the first competition that I have done and I really enjoyed it,” she added. “I was also pleased to win a selection of tools.”
The competition was hosted by Swindon College.
