A MAN has been arrested after a fire destroyed a Downton shop.
A 22-year-old man, from Downton, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life yesterday afternoon and has been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.
Police were called to the Costcutters in the High Street at 8.52am on Monday morning (12 June 2018) to a fire at the shop and the flat above.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is currently ongoing.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from any customers that were in the shop between 7am and 8.30am on that morning.
