A WOMAN in her 20s was sexually assaulted at the junction of Harnham Road and Wavell Road in Harnham.

Police say it happened shortly after 7am on Thursday (June 14).

The woman was sexually assaulted when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her between the legs.

He then ran off towards Harnham Roundabout.

The suspect is described as white, about 30 years old, 5’7” tall and of muscular build. The man was clean shaven with very short black hair.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with a white motif across the back shoulders area, black knee length baggy shorts and trainers.

The man had been seen jogging along Harnham Road at the time of the assault.

PC Jack Combellack said: "This incident understandably left the victim shocked and upset, it is absolutely unacceptable and we need to identify the man responsible."

"At that time of the morning it is likely that there will have been people on their way to work walking or driving by and we ask that if anyone has information they please contact us.

"It would be particularly useful to have any dash-cam or CCTV footage that people may have from that area."

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: "Please don't think that your information however small will not be of use to us. It is often the smallest details or piece of footage that can help identify suspects.

"We recognise that the local community will be concerned about this incident and we can reassure you that the investigation is underway and we have been gathering information and increasing our patrols in the area."

If you saw the incident or have any information which might help identify this man please contact PC Combellack at Salisbury Police on 101 quoting ref 54180053824. Alternatively call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
