PLAY areas across the Test Valley will be transformed and refurbished as part of a major project by the borough council.

Test Valley Borough Council will spend around £270,000 to install new facilities and complete work on areas damaged throughout the year.

In Andover, play areas in Admirals Way, Highlands Road and Winton Chase will be refurbished.

It is also planned that a new surface will be installed at the Colzenzo Drive play park and new walls at the Pilgrims Way multi use games area.

Community and leisure portfolio holder councillor Tony Ward said: “The council is undertaking a major project to significantly enhance its local play parks, outdoor exercise trails and skate parks.

“Play areas are obviously great fun, but most importantly they help children to get active and stay healthy.

“We have also installed a number of new ‘trim trails’ in the borough, which enable people of all ages to exercise outside and enjoy some fresh air.

“It is important that residents have access to high quality facilities and the council is working hard to deliver them.”

Plans will also be brought to fruition at parks in the southern half of the borough.

The council has also received planning permission to refurbish the skate parks at Knightwood Leisure Centre and intends to submit a planning application for the refurbishment of the skate park at Romsey Sports Centre.
