PATIENTS at selected doctors’ surgeries from across Andover will now be able to benefit from more available appointments.

West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is opening up a new clinic in Andover War Memorial Hospital to offer people evening and weekend appointments with GPs or a practice nurse.

The staff managing these centres have been specifically employed for the ‘extended hours’ clinics and will ask patients for consent to access their GP records.

But in the Andover area, only those registered to seven practices will be able to benefit from the service, these include: Adelaide Medical Centre, Andover Health Centre Medical Practice, Charlton Hill Surgery, Shepherds Spring Medical Centre, St Mary’s Surgery, Stockbridge Surgery, and Two Rivers Partnership.

CCG chairman Dr Sarah Schofield said: “We are very pleased this new service is up and running. We recognise that it’s not always easy for people who may be at work during the day to see their GP.”

People can book routine appointments through their own surgery but should call NHS 111 to make an urgent appointment when surgeries are closed.

Appointments are also available at centres in Winchester, Hedge End, Romsey, Lymington and Ringwood.
