MILFORD Mill Road is set to close again, with six months of works planned for the area.

SGN says it is upgrading its gas network in Shady Bower and Milford Mill Road and the work could take about 25 weeks.

It is set to start on Saturday, July 28.

However, the work at Milford Mill Road is scheduled to take place next year.

Dan Brown, spokesman for gas distribution company SGN, said: "This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

"Following discussions with Salisbury City Council, Wiltshire Council and the Highways Authority, our project will start on Saturday, July 28 and last approximately 25 weeks. It will involve temporary road closures and signed diversions."

The first phase, which will take about 15 weeks, will involve the temporary closure of Shady Bower Road from Godolphin School to the junction with Milford Mill Road.

There will be no access for through traffic and signed diversions will be in place, but access will be maintained for residents.

In the second phase, work will progress into Milford Mill Road, which will need to be temporarily closed for approximately ten weeks from the junction of Shady Bower to the junction with Queen Manor Road.

Access will be maintained for residents but there will be no access for through traffic. Signed diversions will also be in place.
