A LITTER of orphaned piglets at River Bourne Community Farm are thriving thanks to volunteers and generous supporters.
The team at the farm have rallied to take care of the piglets who are now three weeks old.
The community has also come together for the orphans with donations of goats milk from Waitrose and Tesco and bags of piglet feed from other generous individuals as well as toys to keep them entertained.
Farm manager Jane Wilkinson said: “They are doing really well and just cuddle up to each other. The volunteers are feeding them every three hours up until 11pm at night .”
The eight piglets were only a week old when their mother, Cilla, died following complications after the birth.
“It was a real tragedy for us,” said Jane. “It was all very sudden. She didn’t recover from the birth.”
She added: “I want to say a big thank you to the volunteers and the public for rallying around and supporting us.”
