AN AMESBURY teenager has taken part in a national televised singing competition.

The Voice Kids returned to our screens for a second series this week, and 14-year-old Zoe Curry performed in the second round of the competition, the battle round, last night.

In a three-way battle performing Feel It Still Zoe was unfortunately eliminated from the competition, but her quirky diva status will continue.

After applying for the previous series Zoe was finally given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this year to sing in front of the three judges, Will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones.

Her hard work paid off after receiving nothing but perfect feedback from the three musicians Sunday night, described as “quirky” by Pixie and “original” by Danny.

Danny hit his button 0.5 seconds before the end of the blind audition song, 1234, saving Zoe from being sent home. Zoe said she was “stunned and excited” to be joining team Danny.

The student from Stonehenge School said: “No matter what happens I’m really proud of myself for how far I’ve come against the other 10,000 people who applied.

“It was such an amazing experience meeting all the judges.”

Even before the televised portion of the series the kids compete in a series of rounds including singing acapella, and must undergo an intense schedule of rehearsals.

Zoe added: “ITV have treated me like royalty, they really looked after me and allowed me to be my best and try my hardest, and that’s all you can do really.”

Zoe’s mother, Carol Warrilow, said: “It’s been very full on for Zoe but so worthwhile. There were so many rehearsals and trips to London but the ITV Studios were very good to her. When Danny turned around I was just blown away and jumping up and down as everyone saw. She is very talented and I am just so proud of her.”

The Voice Kids semi-final is tomorrow and the series will end with a live final on Saturday at 8pm.
