A GCSE Art student from Test Valley School has been offered the opportunity to showcase his work in a leading contemporary art gallery.
David Mossman-Smith from Pitton was selected to present his work in Wykeham Gallery in Stockbridge, as part of the exhibit's new initiative to give one GCSE Art student a year a professional space to present their work.
The piece titled Contrast was placed in the window of the gallery during the first week of their Summer Show, alongside a sizeable collection of artists.
After Nickie Bedford-Davies from Wykeham Gallery assessed all GCSE Art final pieces from the secondary school, she chose this work using pen and ink, with an exploration of themes including light and dark, near and far, and black and white.
At the opening night of the gallery's event, David said: “It’s a little surreal to see people viewing and discussing my work.”
A few days after the launch David's window piece was sold, the patron delighted with the integration of student and established art.
Headteacher at Test Valley, Louisa Hiscock said: “I’m very proud of the standard of work our students achieve in their GCSE Art and David’s chosen piece has highlighted his undoubted talent."
