Amesbury's Boots pharmacy on Salisbury Street is to extend its opening hours further, in effect from Monday, July 23.

This will include opening on Sundays for the first time.

Following feedback from patients, NHS England, working closely with Boots UK on its Salisbury Street pharmacy, are "pleased to confirm" that the opening hours are now 8am to 8pm on Monday to Friday, and 8.30am to 5pm on a Saturday.

In addition, from Sunday July 29, the Salisbury Street pharmacy will also open on Sundays for the first time from 10am to 4pm.

Boots has been the sole pharmacy service in Amesbury since police commenced an investigation into the poisoning of two local residents, although pharmacy services have continued to be provided at nearby locations, such as Lloyds in Durrington.

There are also pharmacies in Salisbury, Tidworth and Ludgershall.

Debra Elliott, Director of Commissioning, NHS England South West (North) said: “We have been monitoring the pharmacy service in Amesbury since the closure of Stonehenge Walk store. Clearly this unexpected closure impacted on the remaining store, but we are pleased to see the progress Boots have made over the last two weeks to address this.

“Redesigning the store layout, bringing in additional staff and drug supplies and moving non-essential work elsewhere has all improved the situation at Salisbury Street pharmacy. Today’s announcement of a further extension to opening times, and the addition of Sunday opening, will give the people of Amesbury more access to pharmacy services in their local community.

“We will continue to keep this situation under close review, and would encourage members of the public to let us know how these new arrangements are working, either by email england.bgsw-pharmacy@nhs.net or by phoning the NHS England Contact Centre on 0300 311 2233.”
