BASINGSTOKE Town produced another good performance against National League opposition Maidenhead United, but unfortunately lost 2-0 at the Camrose.

The home side carved out the first chance as George Bennett and Adam Nditi combined for Callum Bunting.

The Magpies’ Herson Alves then had a shot blocked by Guri Demuria and then a Max Worsfold free-kick beat the wall but not Brandan Norris in the Basingstoke goal.

The lively Zidan Akers forced a save from the visiting goalkeeper Carl Pentney and then Sam Deadfield fired over from distance as the first 45 minutes ended 0-0.

The home side had the first chance after the interval, but Akers fired just wide.

The visitors then took the lead from former Brentford man Alves, as he scored from inside in the area.

Maidenhead then doubled their lead when Ryan Bird was sent clear and was able to chip sub shot stopper Calm McAdden.

The home side tried to open their account as Dean Stow’s free-kick found Bunting, but his effort was saved.

Next for Basingstoke is an away trip to Fleet Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

They beat a depleted Tadley Calleva side 4-1 on Saturday, as Daryl Phillips scored their only goal.
