HARTLEY Wintney made the semi-final of the Southern League T20 Cup for the first time in their history, as they beat visiting Portsmouth by five wickets.

The home side put Portsmouth into bat and Danny Plume (3-20) did the damage early on as the south coast side were reduced to 36-3.

Jack Marston (26) and Dan Wallis (50) set about getting the innings back on track, but Scott Baldwin (4-25) removed Marston.

Then Jamie Teale had Wallis caught behind by Will Kerr, as in the end Portsmouth reached 135-9 from their 20 overs.

Hartley reply early on was built around a solid 35 from 34 balls from opener Teale, as he hit three fours and two sixes.

At 80-5, the Kerr brothers took over with an unbroken sixth wicket stand worth 58 as Will (19) and Matt (35 from 21 balls which included three sixes).

The semi-final is scheduled for the August 12.
