OLD Basing kept themselves in the Hampshire County Division Two promotion hunt, as won their local derby clash at Odiham and Greywell.

The visitors batted first and scored 226, with Nick Willcock (93) top scoring well supported by Neil Robinson 51.

They helped Basing recover from 35-3, after Peter Hodgson 3-35 took out the top order.

Odiham in reply were all out for 163, as Dan Walker hit 32 and Robinson (4-16) and Nick Cooper (3-48) did the damage.

The win moved them up to fourth and this week they are at home to East Woodhay and with second and third placed teams facing each other, they have a great chance to move up the table.

It was not such good news for Old Basing seconds in Division Four North, as they lost by 122 runs to leaders Oakley.

Gerry Dique hit 91 and Clive Welsman 71 in a winning score of 293-5.

Basing were bowled out for 171, thanks to Rob Wood (4-51) and Ronnie McEwan (3-16).

Overton stay right on their tails in second, after they shot AWE Tadley out for 49, with Lewis Watts taking 4-18 on their way to a nine wicket win.
