HARTLEY Wintney and Hook and Newnham Basics are both one game away from a dream trip to play at the Ageas Bowl in the Southern League T20 Cup final.

Hartley booked their place in the last four of the competition for the first time in their history, after they beat visiting Portsmouth by five wickets last Sunday.

Skipper for the victory was Will Kerr and he said: “There is such a good vibe in the club at the minute with a few huge wins along with the benefit day coming along this Friday.

“I am not going to lie, getting Hook in the semi final would be mega and a great game I’m sure, but we are happy to play anyone to be honest.

“No one expected us to get this far but now we are we want to win it and we certainly back ourselves.”

Hook made the semi-finals for the second time in their history, the last time being in 2010, after taking their second Premier Division scalp of the campaign winning at Bashley.

Jordan Hobday certainly bashed the home side, as he hammered 43 ball 75 as Hook scored 193-6 in a 63 run victory.

Team mate Shane Brewer said: “We are absolutely buzzing, especially as it is another Premier team that we beat. We really want Hartley at home in the semi final now. That will be a massive game.”

Both teams will learn if there is to be a local derby semi final next week.

The final quarter-final takes place on Sunday, when St Cross take on Purbrook, with South Wilts, along with Hartley and Hook already in the last four.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday August 12, with final on Tuesday September 16.
