BREASTFEEDING mothers smiled for the camera this week in a sunset photoshoot, to raise money for Salisbury District Hospital and celebrate the fast approaching World Breastfeeding Week.

Mothers who are passionate about breastfeeding and the right to breastfeed in public came together Monday evening (July 23) in the Langford Lakes Nature Reserve, to take part in the outdoor photoshoot in aid of Salisbury Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The shoot not only revealed the beauty and impact of breastfeeding, but aims to encourage women to be confident to breastfeed in public.

During the shoot a lovely summer's evening was had by all, as local and like- minded women had the opportunity to come together and share their breastfeeding experiences, as children enjoyed a nursing session beside the lakes.

Photographer at the event specialising in newborn baby photography, Rachel Burnside said: "Breastfeeding can be a wonderful experience for mothers and has so many benefits for babies, but I know from my own experience that it is not always easy, especially at the start."

Kate who has been a peer support volunteer for Salisbury Council's Mum2Mum network for over four years featured in the shoot, and was "delighted" to take part, describing the images as "positive" and "beautiful".

She added: "I believe that normalising breastfeeding is a really important part of supporting new mums with breastfeeding, by removing the stigma that women can feel about feeding in public."

The evening raised over £200 for their chosen ward, while the photography successfully illustrates the strong relationship breastfeeding forms between mother and child.

World Breastfeeding week will begin from Wednesday, August 1.
