WHILE we appreciate that the differences between Parliamentary Conservatives and local council Conservatives is considerable, with neither having the power to tell the other how to behave, we find the current state of affairs unacceptable. The silence from our local Conservative MP has been deafening on the subject of the council's behaviour during the ongoing debacle around moving the Information Office from it's current location to the insalubrious proposed setting in the depths of the Maltings car park, and now the U-turn to run tourism services from the front of the Guildhall.

It seems to be an unthought-out decision with no stated use of the current location being offered. The council has been non-transparent, rude to questioners and undemocratic to the extreme in ignoring a well-signed petition. And yet we've seen no comment from John Glen anywhere on the subject? You may not have authority over the Conservative councillors but you DO have influence!
