CELEBRATIONS were in full swing for shopping centre staff after they walked away with a plethora of awards.

Andover’s Chantry Centre received four accolades in recognition of its practices, achievements and ongoing commitment in corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The centre was given a bronze award in the International CSR and Energy Management Awards on July 16 for its waste management project ‘Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Repeat’.

The project focuses on its impact on the environment as well as the local community, and also achieved a bronze award in the Green Apple Awards for Built Environment.

Its scheme ‘Switch it off and Keep it off’ also accomplished a silver prize in the category for energy management, as well as attaining a silver award in the Green Apple awards.

The project focused on reducing both electricity and gas consumption and instilling a larger awareness of its importance across the team.

To be recognised at the International CSR and Energy Management Awards staff beat off nominations from across the world in the scheme which recognises achievement in corporate social responsibility and energy management best practice, including initiatives such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Speaking after the award wins, centre manager Steve Cotney said: “We take environmentally friendly practices very seriously at the Chantry Centre.

“It is even more satisfying when our efforts receive great recognition and the centre achieves multiple awards.

“We can now confidently say that we achieve 100 per cent landfill diversion which is a fantastic achievement for the centre.”

The team were presented with the award during a special ceremony at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, on Monday, July 16.
