Salisbury Police will be carrying out targeted patrols in Harnham, in response to to recent reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and criminal damage involving the use of catapults.

This has been identified a local priority and the patrols will concentrate on identified hotspots.

The hotspots are: Harnham Recreation Ground, Middle Street and Middle Street Meadow, Lower Street and the Town Path running from the Old Mill to Queen Elizabeth Gardens in the City Centre

The police say they received more than 20 reports in the last month, with incidents ranging from ASB, criminal damage to windows and houses, and projectiles being fired at birds and other animals.

Ball bearings, lead shot and pebbles have also been found at some of the locations.

The police have also warned that searches will be carried out, and if catapults or ammunition are found they will be seized if there is grounds to do so.

Two catapults have already been seized from young people.
