A TWELVE-year-old boy using his fingers to pretend he had a gun was part of an unsuccessful raid on a city jewellers.

He was one of a trio, all believed to be aged around 12 years old, who demanded staff hand over money in a jewellery shop in St Thomas Square shortly before 1pm on Sunday.

He was holding his fingers in the shape of a gun and told the worker that he had a gun, but no weapons were seen and they left the shop without any money.

The group attempted something similar in another shop nearby.

The boys were all shorter than 5ft 6ins tall and of slender build. One was white with short blonde hair, wearing a plain sky blue T-shirt, and one was mixed race with a short brown afro-style haircut, wearing a white T-shirt.

The only details known about the third boy is that he was white, and a similar age, height and build to the others.

Anyone who recognises the boys should call 101.
