THE sun shone on Burley Village Show at the weekend with visitors enjoying a variety of attractions for all ages.

The event took place at Manor Park on Saturday.

Sue Burnett, of the Burley Village Show committee, said: "We had a lovely crowd of visitors."

A few came from abroad and were fitting in the show as part of their holiday.

She says there were about 1,800 visitors with numbers thought to be slightly down compared to previous years due to the hot weather.

Sue added: "We had a lovely atmosphere and had a lot of nice comments."

Events included a fun dog show, falconry displays, ferret racing and a performance from the Burley Voices Community Choir as well as children's entertainment including a Punch and Judy Show and hook-a-duck.

Firefighters from Burley Fire Station were also at the show.

Visitors were able to browse around the many stalls. There was also a marquee displaying class entries in horticulture, flower arranging, produce, photography and art.
