Salisbury's Pets at Home now stock 'Pawsecco' freeze pops for dogs and cats.

The ice lollies are non-alcoholic, and have arrived just in time for the UK's next heatwave.

They will contain elderflower, linden blossom, ginseng, natural caramell and citric acid and have been created under the advice of veterinary experts.

The pack of six Freeze Pops are priced at £5.99, and are available both in store and online.

Claire Gavin, Director of Private Brands and Innovation, at Pets at Home said: “Prosecco is of course a UK favourite and this summer it’s given rise to Prosecco ice lollies, so why should dogs and cats miss out on the new trend?

“The Freeze Pops are pet friendly and sure to be your pet’s favourite summer cooler once they have tried it, not to mention they’ll be the most on trend pet on the block.”

Pets at Home has also issued warnings in the past month due to the weather. The retailer is concerned that cases of overheated and dehydrated pets could dramatically increase as temperatures increase.

Dr. Maeve Moorcroft, Head of Pets, for Pets at Home, said: “Extreme temperatures can put animals in serious danger and we are urging pet owners to regularly check on their pets regularly.

“Dog walks must take place during the early morning or late evening and we advise against dogs being outside in direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm. Car journeys must be limited if you don’t have air conditioning, it’s just too hot and too risky and it goes without saying, never leave your dog in a car.”
