SOLDIERS from 52 Armoured Engineer Squadron from Perham Down are currently training on the Rapidly Emplaced Bridge System (REBS) with General Dynamics in readiness for Exercise WESSEXSTORM .

The REBS is a light dry-gap bridge developed by the General Dynamics European Land Systems for the US Army. It was designed to provide tactical bridging capability for highly mobile mechanised infantry forces such as the Stryker brigades of the US Army.

In response to an urgent operational requirement the Army also purchased a small number of REBS for use in Afghanistan. The system is able to span a gap of 13 metres and only weighs 4.8 tonnes. The pallet is self-contained, it has its own power supply and hydraulic system to deploy and

Just returning by road from Germany, 6 Headquarters and Support Squadron have completed an arduous months training on Exercise SIMBASCHLOSS on Sennelager Training Area.

Working with a Reserve Army regiment, the Squadron completed a full range of training objectives including battle craft, demolitions, live firing and waterman ship. They even managed to get in some adventurous training at Mohnesee
