HOOK and Newnham Basics booked their place the Southern League T20 Cup final at Ageas Bowl thanks to 41-run victory over visiting local rivals Hartley Wintney.

Even the rain that fell at the end at the game could not dampened the celebration of the Hook Army as they marched on and will now face either South Wilts or St Cross in the final on Tuesday September 16.

A jubilant Hook captain Jordan Hobday said: "We are really buzzing after this it was a great team performance. We have made the final before and lost, so it would be nice to put that right this time."

It means that the Hook side maintained their 100 per cent record in their new Hook Tandoori sponsored kit.

It was visiting Hartley who won the toss and put Hook into bat.

The home side made a good start in front of a big crowd, thanks to Richard Willcock (36) and Hobday (32).

The skipper was the first man caught by Dan Reynaldo off the bowling of Scott Baldwin.

However, his replacement Matt Buckingham, set about building a big score, along with Willock they reached 81 off 10 overs and 128 from 15.

The pair's superb second wicket century stand was ended when Dan Wrenn bowled Willcock.

Three runs later, Buckingham's excellent 55 which saw two sixes and five fours was ended, as Wrenn picked up another wicket, thanks to a James Beckwith catch.

Wrenn struck again to remove Alex Brown as he finished with 3-20.

Matt Love (16) and Rhodes Franklin (7) saw the home side to 162-4.

The Hartley reply, did not get off to the best start, as Shane Brewer (2-24) removed Lee Wood for a duck caught behind by Brown.

Jamie Teale (18) and Scott Baldwin (21) put on 38 runs, before Brewer removed dangerman Baldwin.

Seven runs later, Love took caught the ball over his head after Beckwith (3) skied a delivery from Harry Warner.

With no run added, Teale was dismissed by a superb one handed catch from Brewer out on the boundary and suddenly they were 49-4 in the ninth over.

The Kerr brothers Matt and Will moved the score to 60, before Rhodes Franklin bowled Will and Warner removed Matt.

Hook's Warner continued to take out the Hartley batting order, as he had Ben Earney stumped by Brown and bowled Rhys Batcup.

At 66-8, there was no way back and as the rain started to fall, Reynaldo was caught and bowled by Rupert Armstrong and then Liam Shore clean bowled Wrenn, who capped a great game for Hartley as he top scored with 49.

The visitors being all out for 121, so Hook won the game and made their first Southern League T20 Cup final since 2010.

Both sides return to Southern League Division One action this Saturday, Hook are at home to Calmore Sports and Hartley have a must win basement battle with Liphook and Ripsley.
