A GARDEN at the Bemerton Heath Centre has been improved thanks to the Tesco Bags of Help Scheme.

The centre, in Pinewood Way, won £5,000 from the supermarket’s local community grant scheme in May last year.

Improvements to the garden area at the centre, which is owned and managed by Salisbury City Council, included a new summer house with a shed connected to the electrics, new garden furniture, removal of a concrete path and fairies hidden in the garden for visitors to find.

Sven Hocking, chairman of the council’s Services Committee said: “We would like to thank everyone who voted for our garden at Bemerton Heath Centre. Our active communities team who are based there are delighted with the response from residents and visitors.”

The garden will be open next Thursday (August 23) as part of the Bemerton Heath Fun Day from 11am – 3pm.
