A FORMER cypher clerk has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Margaret Hallas has been a member of Fordingbridge Day Centre for a number of years and got her birthday celebrations underway during a Luncheon Club held at the centre last week.
After a career in the civil service as a cypher clerk, Margaret retired to Sandleheath where she played an active life in the village.
Margaret and guests were joined by Betty Price from Animals Voice who brought along a few animals, including two hedgehogs, an owl and rabbit as well as a tortoise who is about 100-years-old.
Another surprise was in store for Margaret as David Shering and his son Billy arrived in the playground at Avonway with his two Comtois heavy horses, Belle and Bresil.
They whisked Margaret off on a carriage ride through the town and she waved to everyone she saw on the way.
Before lunch was served three varieties of birthday cake were served up, washed down by a glass of pink fizz.
Margaret celebrated her birthday on Monday.
