COMPASSION, understanding and a loving determination to support their family through good times and bad saw Ken and Wendy Glover win a well deserved People Award.

The couple were nominated by their son, Paul, and his wife, Sarah, who told us how they had helped them to rebuild their lives.

After eight years of trying for a baby, Sarah finally fell pregnant and the family looked forward to their new arrival.

But, sadly, Scott was stillborn and the couple saw their world fall apart. Paul said his parents were with them every step of the way offering support, financial help, guidance and love.

They also arranged counselling and support sessions to help the couple come to terms with their loss.

"They put us on the straight and narrow and really gave us a second chance in life which we have taken with both hands," said Paul.

Four years on, the couple decided to embark on IVF treatment and were again supported by Ken and Wendy through a series of emotional ups and downs.

But the family was delighted when, last year, twins Amber and Jade were born.

"Mum and dad are now proud grandparents but without all that they have done, I don't think we would ever got to have Amber and Jade,"said Paul.

"Sometimes it's hard to express feelings and say how you feel so that's why we nominated them as they have made such a difference to our lives and deserve some recognition."
