GREEN roadshows are being held across the Forest to urge residents to recycle.

The New Forest district council's Recycle Right Christmas will be passing on information to residents about what can be recycled and what can't.

The roadshows - running until December 20 - will give residents a chance to get handy hints on how to improve their composting and recycling throughout the festive season - and beyond.

District councillor Edward Heron environment portfolio holder said: "It's the season when many of us have a lot of gifts and groceries - and that means packaging.

"We're asking residents to remember to put plastic bottles, paper, card, tins and cans in their clear sacks for recycling.

"But to leave out wrapping paper, drinks cartons, plastic carrier bags and plastic containers, which can't be recycled. If people take our advice we should have a great, green New Year."

Recycle Right Christmas Campaign Roadshow Dates: Fordingbridge shopping centre December 14, 6-9pm.

Sainsbury's, Meeting House Lane Shopping Centre, Ringwood, 9am-5pm December 19 and 20.

Further information about recycling is available at New Forest District Council Customer Services on 01590 646123.

We could recycle more if the NFDC/HCC offered to collect all items that are marked with the recycle logo. The last message from the Council was that they would not collect plastic bottle tops, yogurt tubs, and several other types of recyclable plastic.
If the LA will not collect then we cannot recycle however much we want to.
