A CHARITY based in Fordingbridge is asking people to consider an alternative to Christmas gifts this year.
Trade Aid supports small businesses in Mikindani in Tanzania and is suggesting giving money in the name of family or friends as part of its Alternative Gift Project.
Enterprise Development Gifts will be used to help businesses get off the ground after people have taken a Trade Aid training course.
Trade Aid says that £15 will buy a goat and £20 two chickens while £50 will stock a clothes shop or buy a sewing machine to enable a tailor to support a family and £100 will buy a small structure to be used as a café or a shop.
An educational gift of £10 will pay for Trade Aid business courses for 10 groups and £15 will pay for a homework club for two months and allow the school resource centre to be opened once a week for children to learn English.
