DORSET is dogged by rural racism and it is getting worse, according to the new head of the race equality council.
Adnan Chaudry, just three weeks into the job of chief officer for the Dorset Race Equality Council, is finding out about what matters to black and other ethnic minority groups in Dorset.
He says there is still much that needs to be done on monitoring racist attacks and that figures that do exist are likely to be much lower than the actual number of incidents.
Mr Chaudry said: "In Dorset there is a denial both of racist incidents and of ethnic minority groups.
People often let things go rather than report them.
"Racist incidents are increasing yet the level of support is not what it should be."
